Mary, Martha & Me
Ladies Retreat
with
Hearts to Him
January 22, 2005
2nd Annual Ladies' Retreat held at the Mineral Wells Women's Club in historic downtown Mineral Wells.
This retreat was held at the historic Mineral Wells Women's Club in downtown Mineral Wells, Tx, also known as the old Post Office building (circa 1913). Our theme was based on the book by JoAnna Weaver titled "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World", from the Bible's scripture Luke 10:38-42. We ate lots of M&M's, our theme candy! (Ha, Ha).
Our guest speaker, Natalie Grace Nichols (www.shadesofgrace.org). Natalie went undiagnosed with Lymes' disease for seven years. It is a miracle of God that she is alive today.
Our "Kitchen Crew". We couldn't have done it without them.
We shared lots of great door prizes.
Our registration grew from 50 ladies at our first retreat in 2004 to 142 in 2005! We were at full capacity & anticipate a new location in 2006 for our 3rd annual retreat. "Our cup runneth over " (AND "Our potties overfloweth" - you had to be there). Isn't God good?
Sandra Nichols, also known as "Natalie's mom", also shared with us.
Phyllis taught an awesome Bible study.
Comments from those who were there:
From Natalie Nichols, guest speaker:
"It was an honor for us to be a part of such a genuine work of God. It's so obvious, as we go from meeting to meeting, which events have been bathed in prayer and earnest desire for a work of God. The HTH retreat was one of those situations. God just descended. His work through HTH is a miracle to behold...and a true blessing to experience. We will continue to pray for Dorinda, Phyllis and Heather, lifting all aspects of their ministry and the retreat to the Lord."
From Lezlee Shearman, Pastor's wife at FBC Dennis, TX:
"The conference was AWESOME. Everything went so wonderful and I am still being blessed by what was spoken and sung that day. I tell you, girl, that I am waiting on the next CD! Phyllis, Dorinda and you (Heather) did an awesome job. The songs were perfect and sounded beautiful as always. Please tell Phyllis she did a GREAT job speaking and thank her for the notes. We are starting a lesson from that book (Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World) in February and I am gleaning from her work."
From Joy Eaton, who attended the retreat:
"My friend Sylvia and I had mentioned to Phyllis that we are very interested in helping you all the next time you do this. We soooo enjoyed it - now it's time to work it! Please keep my email address, and let me know what, where, when and how to help! Not just for the retreat, either - anything really, sign me up!!! It was so refreshing to see what you gals are doing with your ministry and to spend the day surrounded with Christian women - I just loved it!! Let me know how to help! Praying for all of you....."
From Sylvia Nall:
"Oh Heather, my feet didn't touch the ground the rest of the day on Saturday....I stand in awe always of how our Lord is so faithful to His promise of providing for our every need....I needed Saturday soooo much! I am thankful for each of you...I know that the blessings you have given to so many through your ministry will come back a hundred times over....thank you for following the Lord's prompting in your lives. I look forward to your Third Annual Ladies Retreat...and if you find you need another worker bee to help in the background just let me know."
From Cheryl Chastain, who also attended the retreat:
"To all: I wanted to thank you for a wonderful day spending with God, friends, and making new friends. I really enjoyed the day and hope to have a chance to do it again with you. It was a wonderful experience for me. Thank you so much."
From Donna Dean:
"I hope they (Hearts to Him) felt good about what they did and realized how good we all felt when we left. They did a great job. Can't wait to see what they will do next year. I told Dorinda that since their retreats have grown so much, maybe next year we could have it at the American Airlines Center! (smile)"
From Margaret Smith of Houston, Texas:
"Thank you for including me in your special retreat weekend. You have been blessed with such beautiful voices that "fit" so well together. And God gave a double blessing because we get the pleasure of hearing you three sing. Please put me at the top of your list if you ever make a new CD. Your music, the Bible lesson, and the speaker who suffered from Lyme's Disease touched all who attended the session. What a courageous young woman to make such sense of her suffering and to turn it into a lesson for so many. I pray for her health. Thank you again for a special day at the historic post office."
Looking forward to seeing you next year!
Our 3rd annual Retreat in 2006 will be "Amazing Makeover (From the Inside Out) with Hearts to Him".
Mark January 14, 2006 on your calendars now!!!
